What does it take to release? We need to feel supp What does it take to release? We need to feel supported, safe. If we try to open what has engaged for intelligent protection, without addressing why it is protecting in the first place, we may tighten even more with resistance.

A tight psoas usually doesn’t need stretching. Its tension usually reflects that something is not supported - pelvis, hips, core, lower back… Create stability and integration through balanced muscular support, and the psoas can release its hold. 

So, we’ll do some breathing and stretching for sure, but first we’ll wrap our hips and lower spine in a loving embrace of hugging muscles around aligned joints. Finding balanced stability alone will release a tight psoas, and then we’ll coax our whole self into deeper release with breath and some key sweet stretches.

Come learn, come release, and most importantly, find your own inner support to settle into your own easeful being.

It’s been 12 weeks since my surgery and I am nea It’s been 12 weeks since my surgery and I am nearly back to normal. I still feel some sensation deep in the hip in certain ranges of motion (like this one for sure), but I am told that is to be expected and will take some time to completely resolve. For now I am continuing to explore and figuring out what is possible. Feeling so grateful, and welcoming this next cycle of growth.

I’d like to share with you my current class schedule. You can take classes with me either in person or virtually.

In these unprecedented times, we are feeling all the shades of stress as we face so much change and uncertainty. The ilio-psoas muscle is one of the places we hold our deepest tension. When bound or imbalanced, we literally can not breathe fully enough, and this constriction disconnects us from life’s deepest support.

In this workshop, learn this muscle’s story from anatomy to energy, and how best to care for it through alignment – how to balance, strengthen, and unravel it effectively, and how to bring this awareness back into your regular practice. To release the psoas is to bring clearing, grounding, and opening to your body and energy flow, your mind and heart; and through this, to be able to trust more deeply in the flow of life as we navigate these challenging circumstances.

Though yoga can’t solve our problems directly, it can certainly support us in clearing physical and emotional tension, and to tangibly reconnect to - and therefore trust more deeply - the flow of life!

300-hour Advanced YTT at Lift Yoga! I am super ex 300-hour Advanced YTT at Lift Yoga!

I am super excited to come on as a lead instructor for this Advanced Teacher Training.

I’ll bring my knowledge and experience of empowering and refined alignment-based practice, along with Tantric yoga philosophy and the deeper yogic maps. We’ll dive into our own experience as well as unfold a next-level exploration of the teaching craft. I am joining amazing local and national teachers for a well-rounded offering. We are aiming to meet in person safely as much as possible, with virtual options as well.

~ Imbolc Blessings ~ Imbolc (on Tuesday) marks mi ~ Imbolc Blessings ~

Imbolc (on Tuesday) marks midwinter, the Celtic festival that celebrates the turning of the wheel halfway from winter to spring. It means “first milk,” how the cow’s udders begin to swell with milk in preparation for the first births of the year. We see in nature plants beginning to bud, the daffodils pushing up through the ground, and of course, the days are getting longer. It’s time to purify, to release the winter, and beckon the growing light in welcome for the next cycle of growth, as much as it beckons us.

I have been in deep hibernation - with my surgery, the pandemic, the world’s turmoil. I have felt heavy and tired, not especially inspired. I have surrendered to this time of laying fallow, but now I do feel the stirring towards what is coming next. I have some exciting things coming up this year that I look forward to sharing with you. Some of it feels like a continuity, finally, of where we left off almost a year ago when the pandemic hit. And some of it is a next level growth expression for me. More soon.
