The autumn equinox, occurring on September 22, marks the sun’s passage directly over the equator, creating a nearly equal length of day and night. It is the official beginning of fall and, for many communities, it is a time that invites introspection. Three Atlanta yoga teachers dive into the season's spiritual lessons and explore the rich connections between yoga and daily life through nature’s cyclical transition.

“Think of it as a threshold, like dawn and dusk,” says Gina Minyard, one of Atlanta’s most seasoned yoga teachers. “When opposites meet, something else emerges. Because of that, the equinox is an extraordinarily potent time for expanding consciousness,” she says. “When I offer teachings around seasonal rhythms,” she adds, “I often see something awaken in people. It touches something that is deeply embedded in their DNA.” Minyard believes the human physiology is deeply connected to the seasons. “We feel these shifts because we are part of nature,” she says.
